Pure for Men Joins #StopHateForProfit Campaign

Austin, Texas – July 1, 2020 – Men’s Health and wellness company, Pure for Men, joins other Facebook advertisers to pause paid advertisements for the month of July in response to Facebook’s allowing of racist and violent content to run on its platform, despite demand for change. As a company driven by its values and beliefs, Pure for Men has a responsibility to use its voice and take action when witnessing major issues that impact its employees and community.

Over the last few months Facebook has turned a blind eye to blatant voter suppression, the monetization of hate speech, to discrimination in their algorithms, silencing of black voices and the provocation of violence against protestors fighting for justice in America. Citizens and organizations around the country are fighting for free and fair elections for all American voters this fall. Pure for Men is taking a stand against a company that counteracts these efforts by refusing to take responsibility for hate, bias, and discrimination on it’s platform. The #StopHateForProfit campaign is organized by civil rights organizations including the Anti-Defamation League and NAACP, and is a direct response to Facebook’s failure to stop the spread of hate and misinformation.

Pure for Men stands for love and equality, and as long as Facebook continues to profit from the spread of hate, they have stated they will not advertise on its platform.

“We believe that all companies, including ours, have a responsibility to reflect on the systemic racism in our country and push themselves to do better. We are taking a stand with many other companies to #StopHateforProfit to say that no amount of profit from Facebook is worth promoting racism, hate, bigotry, and violence,’” said Lawrence Johnson, Founder and Managing Partner for Pure for Men.

Customers can connect with Pure for Men via its social channels and website, but the company will “hit pause on hate” by pausing all paid advertising globally on Facebook and Instagram for the month of July in support of the Stop Hate for Profit campaign.
